IP Network Cameras
An IP Network Camera, sometimes referred to simply
as a network camera or an internet camera, allows you to view video
images via a computer network. This can be a Local Area Network
(LAN) such as that found in most business offices or a Wide Area
Network (WAN) using the Internet.
The ability to view high-quality images at high speed over the internet
makes IP network cameras suitable for a wide range of applications,
including surveillance, office and car park security, construction
site monitoring or home surveillance.
IP Network Cameras can also take advantage of wireless networking
technology, often allowing them to be used in environments without
traditional structured cabling.
Because IP Network Cameras are connected to the
same network that business systems and servers operate from they
are suitable for incorporating into an integrated surveillance system
that has the potential to automate many aspects of the security
function. This can often reduce the reliance on security staff manually
operating traditional pan/tilt/zoom cameras.
